Mrs. Tonnie ‘Sue’ Boleman Ankerich, of Canon, wife of 69 years to the late Joel Payton Ankerich, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 27, 2024, at her residence, three days after her 92nd birthday.
Born in the Reed Creek Community of Hart County on September 24, 1932, Sue was the youngest child of the late Walter Reese Boleman, Sr. and Leila Harriett Ayers Boleman. A member of Bethany Baptist Church, she loved her Savior with all of her heart and loved studying God's word. Sue was a powerful prayer warrior who never missed an opportunity to pray with or extend a word of encouragement to anyone in need. She had a talent for writing, and used her ability to write many poems throughout the years. Sue loved yard work and worked hard keeping her flower gardens immaculate as long as her health would permit. Affectionately known as MaSue to her family, she was a woman with a strong, and sometimes stubborn, spirit that loved her family dearly.
Survivors include her children: Anne A. and Norman Berry of Elberton, Tonnie A. Garner of Bowman, and Mark Ankerich of Canon; grandchildren: Stephanie Bryant, Matt and Joni Berry, Sean Burdette, Chris and Erin Berry, Caitlin A. and Kyle Ledford, and Conner and Cierra Ankerich; great-grandchildren: Victoria Berry, Colin Berry, Alexandria Burdette, and Luke Ledford; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Daisy Brandt, Elizabeth Robertson, John Boleman, Calaway Boleman, Hattie Toole, Ann Robertson, Marion Jenkins, Reese Boleman, Furman Boleman, and Harrison Bolman; grandson, Russell Berry; and great-grandchildren: Meadow Berry and Hunter Berry.
Friends may pay their respects and sign the guestbook on Tuesday, October 1, from 10:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors in Hartwell.
Funeral services celebrating the life and faith of Sue Ankerich will be conducted on Wednesday, October 2, at 2:00p.m. from Bethany Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. She will be placed in the church at 1:00p.m.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.
