Mrs. Teresa (Gissy) Mapp age 83 of Hartwell, GA passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Cartersville Crossing in Cartersville, GA. Born December 13, 1942 in Burbank, CA she was the daughter of the late Thomas Eugene Gissy and Virginia Gertrude (Doyle) Gissy. Teresa was a Registered Nurse working as the Coordinator of Student Health Services at the University of Georgia. She was of the baptist faith and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Teresa loved boating, camping, and visiting with her grand children and great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Teresa is preceded in death by her Husband Leiland Frances Mapp, Jr. Sister Adelle Bell, and Brother Thomas Gissy.

Teresa is survived by her daughters Cathy Janusek (Chris) and Michelle Fitzpatrick (Johnny) both of Cartersville, GA. Son Michael Johnson (Monica) of Hoschton, GA. Brother William "Bill" Gissy (Julia) of Johns Creek, GA. Grandchildren; Jamie Jones (Matt), Ashton Rivers (Andrew), Daniel Fitzpatrick (Jessica), Miles Johnson (Alex), Marjorie McLain (Johnny), Marshall Johnson (Ana), Michael Janusek (Kelly), and Kylie Ray (Tanner). Seven Great- grandchildren; Mason, Isaac, Adelyn, & Mattie Kate Jones, Selah, Lainie, and Grady Fitzpatrick.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 10:00 -11:00 AM at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. Teresa will be laid to rest next to her husband at 3:00 PM at Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens, GA.

The family is at their respective homes.
