Jean Brantley Carter, age 96, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Benton House in Newnan. Jean was born on September 14, 1929, in Sandersville, GA, to the late Charlie Brantley and Pauline Cox Brantley.

Along with her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Robbie Hugh Carter, better known as "Slim".

She is survived by her daughters, Margaret McCall and her husband, Jerry, of Gainesville, GA, and Charlotte Bennett and her husband, Scott, of Newnan, GA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Allison Ash (Arthur), Michael Bennett (Corinn), Jeremy McCall (Stephanie), and Stephanie Shelnutt (Greg), 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 2207 Cokesbury Hwy, Hartwell, GA, at 1:00, followed by a light lunch in the church's Fellowship hall.

Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Crematory of 333 E. Johnson Street, Hartwell, GA.
