Rev. James Earl McCurley, age 89 of Hillcrest Drive in Hartwell, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.
Services celebrating the life of Rev. James E. McCurley will be held on Saturday, November 9, ,2019 at Eleven o'clock at Encounter Church, 1318 Reed Creek Highway in Hartwell.
Rev. McCurley was born in Houston County, AL on March 12, 1930. He graduated from Troy State University with a bachelors degree and proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ for 44 years as a Baptist minister serving in numerous churches and was a member of Encounter Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by; his wife Willene Clark McCurley of the home, children, Rev. Gary (Sue) McCurley of Hartwell, Valeria Lee (Barry) Powell, New Hampshire, Mary Jean (Louis) Carver, Seneca, S.C., Phillip C. (Terry) McCurley, Damascus, OR., Eleven Grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Labe Adam McCurley and Martha Perryman McCurley, and sister, Natalie Lewis.
The family will be at the home, 55 Hillcrest Drive in Hartwell. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to missions at Encounter Church, 1318 Reed Creek Hwy., Hartwell, Ga. 30643
Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell will be serving the family.
