Mr. Ray Saylors, age 88 of Hartwell, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27,2023 at his home with two daughters by his side.

Born on November 8, 1934, in Franklin County to the late Willis Saylors and Mamie Owens Saylors.

Mr. Ray Saylors began his journey, after marriage, stationed at Fort Jackson in the United States Army during the Korean War. There, he had his first child, a daughter. He went on to live in several other South Carolina cities, having two more daughters and a son. Making their way to the family home place on Flat Shoals Road in Bowersville, where they had their last child, a daughter, who would become his caregiver.

He began his employment at Monroe Auto Equipment in the early 60s as a tool and dye machinists and first aid man. If you were ever in need beyond his care, he would drive you to the ER in his personal vehicle. Formerly Tenneco, he retired with over 30 years of employment.

Mr. Ray Saylors was a member of the Georgia Masonic Lodge, Nancy Hart #690. He was a certified locksmith and also delivered papers for the Anderson Independent. He enjoyed building and working on Ford cars, trucks, and tractors with his son, taking a cool dip in the creek after a hard day's work in the garden, going to yard sales, fellowshipping with his many friends, and riding his motorcycle to the North Georgia Mountains. He believed actions spoke louder than words.

He was a dedicated and faithful member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church, serving as usher, deacon, grounds and building committee, and a member of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class.

Survivors include one brother, Jerry Saylors Sr., four daughters. Deborah Risner, Brenda Hill, Sharon Wright (Darrell Winslett), and Sandra Stone (David O'Barr). One son, Randall Saylors. 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ray Saylors is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Juanita Dowell, mother of his children, Betty Kennedy Saylors, and one great grandchild, Riley Thomas.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, March 2, 2023, in the Chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Nick Stone, Johnny Wright, and Jeremy Wright. Great grandchildren, Memphis Wright, Tyler Thomas, and Christopher Wood. Burial was held in the Flat Shoals Church Cemetery.

Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors 333 E Johnson Street in Hartwell.
