Mr. Otto “Russell” Hart, age 81, of Hartwell, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 4, 1944, in Royston, Georgia, Russell was the son of the late Wendell Hart and Frances Bennett Hart.

Russell was a talented mechanic who took great pride in his work. When he wasn’t turning wrenches, he enjoyed spending time with his family, participating in dirt track racing, and relaxing with his favorite television show, Gunsmoke. He also dearly loved his “fur children,” Sissy, Amos, and Andy, who brought him much joy. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his son, Greg Hart, and his sister, Doris Bryant.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Esperanza “Espie” Hart; the mother of his children, Patsy Hart; and his daughters, Lynn Turner (Chuck) and Jennifer Hart, all of Hartwell, Georgia. He is also survived by his siblings: Roger C. Hart, Sylvia Hart, Dianne Ivester, Billy Don Ivester, Sandra Armistead, Wendy Hart, Deborah Hart, Roger Hart, and Terry Wayne Ivester.

Affectionately known as “Papa Russell,” he will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Samantha Greene (Justin), Caleb Propes, Madison Carruth, and Breanna Carruth; and his great-grandchildren, Samson and Addie Greene.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. A funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. Russell will be laid to rest in the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
