William Michael McSwain Sr. (Mike) of Myrtle Beach SC went to be the Lord on Friday April 28, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at home.

Born June 9, 1943 in York, SC he was the son of the late William Ernest McSwain and Mary Allene Nivens McSwain. He was a graduate of Toccoa High School, Toccoa, GA and attended Clemson University on a football scholarship. He was general manager of Hartwell Mills where is late father served as President. He continued work as General Manager for the business as it became Dundee Mills followed by Springs Industries and retired in 2001. He was a member of the Hartwell Rotary Club and adviser board for Clemson Textile Department, Clemson University. Mike’s life long hobby was restoring, trading antique speed boats. He was the founder of The Lake Hartwell Antique Boat Show in 1992. Along with being a life member of Antique and Classic Boat Society.

 Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Katie Sue Shirley McSwain; his children, Michele McSwain Singleton of Myrtle Beach SC and Michael McSwain Jr. and his wife Michelle Lynn of Canon GA; his grandchildren, Alle Singleton Castro and husband Greg of Boulder, CO, Corbin Singleton and his wife Rebecca of Six Mile, SC, Caitlin McSwain of Anchorage, AK and Catherine McSwain of Sanibel, FL; his great grandchildren Brynlee and Judge.

Services celebrating the life of Mike McSwain will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11:00 with the family receiving friends prior at 10:00am at the McMillian-Small Funeral Home and Crematory 910 67th Ave N. Myrtle Beach SC 29572 with the Reverend Monta Maki officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.v.org (Jim Valvano, Victory Over Cancer).
