Maxine Pearle (Riddick) Davis

Maxine Pearle (Riddick) Davis of Hartwell, GA was welcomed by Jesus at the gates of heaven in the early morning hours of September 11, 2025 at the age of 104. Her phenomenal life began November 27, 1920 in Marion, SC. She was the daughter of the late Preston Aubrey Riddick and Cleveland (Smith) Riddick and the sister of Martha Foster and Buddy Riddick.

In addition to her parents and siblings, she will be celebrating her eternal life with her husband Frank James Davis- Big Daddy, her son Robert L. Davis, daughter Emmalyn Johnson, and countless friends.

Maxine, affectionately known by all as Big Momma, was a devoted wife for over 70 years. She was a mother to 5 children, Robert L. Davis husband of Karen Davis, Emmalyn Johnson wife to Craig Johnson, Harold Davis, Ann Davis and Frances Bates wife to Terry Bates. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 22 (and counting). She was an aunt to Virginia Maxine Morris (Sydney) and a great aunt. Big Momma was a mother, aunt, friend, cheerleader to anyone who needed it and is survived and remembered by an innumerable amount of beloved people.

Big Momma was an inspiration. She was instantly loved by all and loved them all in return. She was fierce. She was feisty and she was unapologetically herself. She was the epitome of living life to the fullest and loving every second of it. She was an avid gardener, slot machine wrangler, dive bar dancer, and front row church singer.

She will be greatly missed. Anyone blessed to have known her will forever remember her loving nature.
