Mrs. Mary Ann Whitaker Mize, age 71 of Fiddlers Drive in Hartwell, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, January 5, 2020 at Rainbow Retirement Home in Arnoldsville.
She was born July 2, 1948 in Royston, Ga., to the late Charles Whitaker and Mary Frances Herring Ray. She was a Certified Law Enforcement Officer having worked with Hart County Sheriff's Office from 1973-1989, Hartwell Police Department from 1989-1999 and retired from Royston Police Department where she worked from 1999-2014. Mary Ann loved flowers and her family. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include, children, Tracy D. (Candice) Mize and Shannon (Jeff) Sokol all of Hartwell, grandchildren, Riley and Skylar Sokol and Emily (Chip)Thompson, great-grandchild, Elias Charles Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ronald D. Mize and grandson, Avery Sokol
Funeral services for Mary Ann Mize will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at four o'clock from the chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. Rev. Bruce Eaves will officiate. Burial will follow at Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Law Enforcement Honors.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday afternoon 1-4 just prior to the service. The family will be at the home of Tracy and Candice Mize, 912 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell and at Shannon and Jeff Sokol's, 62 Fiddlers Drive in Hartwell.
Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell.
