Mrs. Nora Louise Ayers Rice, age 95 of Vanna Road in Royston, Ga., passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 30, 1929 to the late B.E. Ayers and Lessie Segars Ayers. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John J. Rice, brothers, Conyard, Virgil and Wade Ayers, son, and Jerrel Rice. Left to cherish her memory are; children, Gary (Debra) Rice, Marie (Freddie) Bellamy, Jerry "Scoot" (Gloria) Rice, Linda (Tom) Bagley, Teresa (Kyle) Harper and Merrie (Brad) Mayo, daughter in law, Barbara Rice,  grandchildren, Ricky Rice, Heath Rice, Ken Rice, Brad Rice, Chrissy Evans, Clint Rice, Leigh Hall, Hogan Harper, Mollie Johnson, Megan Parrish, John Bellamy, Ty Alewine, Jeremy Rice, Ethan Alewine, Courtney Vickery, Sam Alewine and Mason Mayo along with their spouses. Thirty two great grandchildren, twenty one great-great grandchildren, and siblings, Marlene Hart and Barry (Linda) Ayers and sister in law, Evelyn Ayers.  

She was married for 71 years and spent most of that time in Vanna, Ga., where they raised their seven children. Louise loved quilting and was a member of Currahee Quilters Guild. She taught lap quilting and cooking classes through Athens Tech. She baked cakes for the public many years. Her church family (Holly Springs Baptist) was very important to her life and she helped prepare food for church functions. She was called "Nanny Rice" by her multitude of grandchildren. She was a devoted fan of the Samuel Elbert Christian School that was founded by her late husband. At family meals everyone looked for Nanny Rice's green beans and whatever cake she had made and Papa John's peach ice cream.   

Funeral services celebrating the life of Louise Rice will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Four o'clock from Holly Springs Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends at the church from 3-4 p.m. just prior to the funeral service. Family members will be at the home, 1910 Vanna Road in Royston.

Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Crematory, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell.
