Mr. Larry C. Warnock, age 90 of Hartwell, husband to Elizabeth Warnock passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Born March 25, 1935 in Tarrytown, GA he was the son of the late David and Cornelia Warnock.
Larry was an active and faithful member of Hartwell First Methodist church where he taught Sunday School. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club. After he retired, he volunteered in his daughter’s classroom helping young kids with their reading. He was the owner of All Aboard Travel and traveled all over the United States and Europe with his wife, Elizabeth. He was Hart County Father of the Year in 1996.
Larry was a University of Georgia graduate with a master’s degree in Agriculture Education. He taught school for 10 years in the Centerville/Rock Branch community. It was here that he and Elizabeth became acquainted with Mr. Joe Powell, a board member for Hart EMC. Mr. Powell was instrumental in hiring Larry for the position of Manager of Member Services. He began his career with Hart EMC in 1966 and became the writer and editor of the newsletter “Along These Lines.” He is best known for his column titled Ramblin’ with Larry where he wrote about various electrical ideas as well as his childhood memories on the farm. Larry was a humble, kind, and generous man who loved to meet people, offer advice to make their homes energy efficient, and was a great storyteller. He worked until he retired in 1995 with 30 years of service.
He loved his family and always lived by his faith and instilled good and honest values in his children and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and gave the best advice to those who needed guidance. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Tapley Warnock, two daughters Fran Heard (Steve), Jan Bowers (Bill) and son Byron Warnock (Cheryl). Two brothers, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Hartwell First Methodist Church. A time of fellowship will take place following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Hartwell First Methodist Church to the children/music ministries or Hart County Special Olympics at 59 Fifth Street, Hartwell, GA 30643.
Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Crematory, 333 E Johnson St. Hartwell.
