Joyce Cromer Hall Sartain

Mrs. Joyce Cromer Hall Sartain, age 87, a resident of The Gables in Royston, GA, passed away peacefully at Brown Health and Rehab on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 14, 1938, in Jackson County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Carlton and Gwynnelle (Lord) Cromer. A 1957 graduate of Royston High School, Joyce dedicated 38 years of her life to working as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Don Brady in Franklin Springs, GA. and Dr. Neal Pylant in Athens, GA., and she was a faithful member of Royston Church of God.

Joyce was deeply committed to her family and her community. She will be remembered for her love of the simple joys in life — from her cherished birdhouses and bird feeders that brought beauty and serenity to her home, to her passion for cooking, often using cherished family recipes to bring everyone together around the table. Joyce’s nurturing spirit extended to her love of sewing and the many treasured creations she crafted with care.

Most of all, Joyce will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished the role of "NaNa" and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson, imparting her love, wisdom, and warmth.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claude D. Sartain; brothers Bobby, Billy, and Dennis Cromer; sister Gail Royston; and sister-in-law Jan (Cromer) Adams.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her son Greg Hall of Hartwell, GA; daughter and son-in-law Melanie and Jeff Freeman of Hartwell, GA; granddaughter Hilary (Hall) Uggla and her husband Chris of Winder, GA; grandsons William "Beau" Freeman of Saint Simons Island, GA, and Hudson Hall of Hartwell, GA; and great-grandson Connor Uggla of Winder, GA. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Betty and Doug Williams of Martin, GA; sister-in-law Gaynelle Cromer of Royston GA; and nieces and nephews Tammy Ogle, Gina Bleech, Jane Pritchett, Ginger Toop, Christy Myers, Leslie Royston, Nathan Royston, and Christopher Cromer. Joyce’s extended family also included Tim and Laura Sartain, Nicole Sartain Praino, and Becky, Stephen, Jon, Emily, Knox, and Lane Bolinger.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street, Hartwell, GA. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. Joyce will be laid to rest following the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston, GA.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support they have received during this time. Services for Mrs. Joyce Cromer Hall Sartain have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Crematory of Hartwell, GA.
