Joel Blackwell

Mr. Joel Levisa Blackwell, age 65, of Athens, Georgia, formerly of Hartwell, GA passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born on June 28, 1961, in Hartwell, Georgia, Joel was the son of the late Joel Blackwell and Hazel Johnson Blackwell. He spent much of his life in northeast Georgia and will be remembered for his quiet nature, gentle spirit, and the simple pleasures he enjoyed. Joel found contentment in life's quieter moments, especially relaxing and watching television.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister, Vernida Scott and her husband, Ralph, of Hartwell, Georgia; his brothers, Warren Blackwell, Darryl Blackwell, Sisters Cindy Blackwell, Wanda Swinger (Charles); along with extended family members and friends who will remember him with love.

Though his life was lived quietly, he will be remembered by those who knew him for his kind heart and enduring presence. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family, who are thankful for the time they shared with him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. In accordance with Joel's wishes a cremation will follow
