Janice Dumond

Ms. Janice Wood Gilbert Dumond, age 64 of Hartwell, GA. passed away on March 15, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA. after a courageous battle with Covid.

Janice was born on November 20, 1957, to the late Arthur and Joan L. Wood in Waterbury, CT.

She graduated from Watertown High School in 1976. She worked at Ro’s Restaurant in Oakville for 30 years and Watertown Plastics for 20 years. She started in molding and moved to Quality Control. She lived most of her life in Oakville, Ct. before moving to Hartwell, GA. to be with her daughter Michelle in 2020. Janice was full of spunk, had a joyful, loving spirit, enjoyed movies, creating, and working on any project, spending time with family, crocheting and was a giving, caring and kind person.  She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter; Michelle Gilbert of Hartwell, GA., son; Daniel (Amanda) Gilbert of Cheshire, CT., siblings; Christine Wood (Peter) Creasey of Oakville, CT., Diane Wood Humphrey of Sevierville, TN., Maureen Wood (Rick) Testa of Sevierville, TN., Thomas (Mary Evelyn) Wood of Higganum, CT., special cousins; Katherine Sullivan of Southington, CT., Jeremiah and Patricia Sullivan of Hartwell, GA., aunt; Ann (Lawlor) Cushing of Dacula, GA., plus several other cousins and nieces, nephews, along with great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, younger brother; Jimmy Wood, baby sister; Eilene Wood, infant daughter; Rebecca Gilbert, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Janice’s wishes were to be cremated and a Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hartwell, GA. with Father Rafael Castano, Deacons; Barry Phillips, and Jerry Korte officiating.

The family has requested no flowers and that donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation https://www.kidney.org/transplantation or The Sea Turtle Conservancy https://conserveturtles.org

Arrangements are under the care of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors/Lake Hartwell Cremation Center, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell.
