Mr. Jack Leroy Gidley, age 87, of Hartwell, GA entered into eternal rest on May 25, 2026 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA.
He was the son of the Late Marvin Leroy Gidley and Grace Gateway Gidley. He was born on March 16, 1939 in Tacoma, WA. Jack has retired from the Rand Corporation where he worked as an audio and visual technician. He also served in the National Guard. Jack was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Hartwell First Baptist Church; where he greatly enjoyed being a part of his Sunday school class.
He greatly enjoyed working on antique boats alongside of his brother in law Al. As an avid reader, Jack enjoyed reading the westerns authored by Louis L'Amour. He was an amazing gardener and enjoyed the outdoors. Jack was also known for his love of car racing. Either watching local or both the Nascar and Busch series as well as racing on dirt track in earlier years. He found pleasure in finding thrift items and repurposing them into beautiful furniture. But of all these things his greatest love was spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Tim Gidley.
Survivors include his loving wife Mary Gidley of the Home. Children: Kimberly Lund Cumming (Bart) of Peora Heights, IL, Heather Lund of Hartwell, GA., and Tim Gidley of Phoenix, AZ. Two sisters. Grandchildren Derek Baldwin of Evansville, IN., Tiffanie Smith (Matt) Evansville, IN., and Rachael Lund of Hartwell, GA. Two Great- grandchildren. Nephew Aaron Olsen of Seattle, WA., and brother and sister in law Al and Bonne Olsen of Hartwell, GA.
There will be a reception to honor Jack's life at the residence of Mary Gidley 174 Azalea Drive Hartwell, GA 30643 on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hart Partners/ The Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Crematory of 333 E Johnson Street, Hartwell, GA 30643..
