Harry Nilsen

Mr. Harry Nilsen, age 87 of Lavonia, GA passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Bountiful Hills Senior Living in Commerce, GA. Born January 24, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Sigurd Nilsen and Herborg (Nilsen) Nilsen. Harry was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served from 1955-1960 obtaining the Rank E-2 Telecommunicator. In addition to his service to his country Harry was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church, as well as the Hartwell Golf Club.

He worked his entire career at Mettler-Toledo. He started as a repairman and moved into sales where he spent the majority of his working years. His real love, however, was his 1946 Willy's Jeep. Most weekends you would find him in the garage tinkering with one part or another or replacing the entire engine. He loved working with his hands and in his retirement, in between golf days, built a Jaguar kit car and a 2-seat airplane

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Marilyn (Sande) Nilsen. His children Steven Nilsen (Lisa), Sharon Lusco (Sam), Roger Nilsen (Jessica)and Erik Nilsen (Shay). His brother Roy Nilsen (Susan).Eight grandchildren; Lindsey Nilsen, Matthew Nilsen, Allyson Lusco, Megan Lusco, Ryan Lusco, Tyler Nilsen, Ava Nilsen, Abbi Nilsen and his neices and nephews. 

Per Harry's wishes a cremation will take place and no formal services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Harry's memory to Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Gardens, 691 Benson Street Hartwell, Ga, 30643.

Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors & Crematory of 333 E. Johnson Street Hartwell, GA.
