Mr. Herbert “Happy” Donald Crittendon, age 81 of Hartwell, Ga., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at his home.

Born April 8,1944 in Hart County, GA, Happy lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, and devotion to his family and community. A lifelong resident of Georgia, Happy was known for his warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering work ethic. He touched the lives of many through his dedication to service and his deep-rooted values. Whether through his professional work, military service, church and community involvement, or personal relationships, he was always willing to share his time, skills, and talent to help others. Happy made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He was the son of the late William Crittendon and Gaspy Cleveland Crittendon. Happy retired from a career in textile manufacturing. At the time of his retirement, he worked in Research and Development at Glen Raven Mills. He loved woodworking and carpentry, and his time spent working with Habitat for Humanity, as well as his time volunteering with Meals on Wheels in Hart County. He was a member of Oak Bower Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Youth worker. He also enjoyed international travel, having visited more than 13 countries. Happy served in the U.S. Army and retired from the US Army National Guard with over 20 years service.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Gale Brown Crittendon, son, Dr. Chad Crittendon of Chicago, IL, sisters, Joan Neal, of Sandy Springs, SC., Betty Jean and husband Bob, of Anderson, SC, Sandra Tucker and Charlotte Crump of Hartwell, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, William Hugh Crittendon, Kenneth Gerald Crittendon, Barbara Cook Jordan, and Gail Harris Massey.

As per his request, he will be cremated with no further service at this time.

Services entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Crematory, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell.
