"Hal" Woody Woodyard

"Hal" Woody Woodyard, age 89 of Franklin Springs, passed away peacefully on Friday July 14th surrounded by his family at St. Mary's in Athens GA.

He was born in Fulton County, Atlanta, GA on January 30, 1934. He was the son of of the late Seth and Mary Alice Woodyard. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church in Maysville, GA. He was a printer and enjoyed camping, spending time with family, being an entrepreneur and was an accomplished runner and participated in many marathons and road races.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Woodyard, son, Hal Allen Woodyard (Mary) of Cumming, GA, daughter, Sally Gummel (Quinn) of Boerne, TX, step-sons, Dr. Patrick McCleskey of Oakland, CA, and Arch McCleskey (Lisa) of Manassas, VA. Three sisters; Grace Britt of Monroe, GA, Lillian Huff of Wedowe, AL, Faye Minch of Stone Mountain, GA and 2 Grandchildren; Tommy Woodyard and Quinn Gummel.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers; Robert Woodyard, Herbert Woodyard, Walter Woodyard, and Douglas Woodyard.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday July 18, 2023 at 10am from Grove Level Church in Maysville, GA with the Reverends Jeff Appling and Brent Lord officiating.
