Gregory Jack Evans, 61, of Lexington, GA, died July 24, 2023. Born in Hartwell, Georgia he was the son of the late Jack Emmett Evans and Winona Evans.

Greg owned his own business, Gregory J. Evans, Land Surveying. He also worked as the surveyor for the University of Georgia. He was a member for Lexington Baptist Church. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and waterskiing. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years Jayne Powell Evans; children: William Gregory Evans (Risha), Kathryn Diane Smith (Matthew), and Dillon Mitchell Evans (Alaetra); Grandchildren: Aiden Matthew Smith, Abigail Kate Smith, and Asher Jack Evans; Mother: Winona Chitwood Evans and brother Hoyt David Evans (Kristi); nephews and niece: Brett Beaty, Brandon Beaty, Bradley Beaty, Jonathon Ondercek, Shelby Evans, Colton Evans and Garrett Segars.

A memorial service will be held on Friday July 28, 2023 at Lord and Stephens, East at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matt Bartlett officiating. A private burial for the family will be held at Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Lord and Stephens, East from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lexington Baptist Church for their Youth and Children’s Ministries and/or Penfield Addiction Ministries.

Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, Athens, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
