Elmer Gordon Moore, Jr., of Hartwell, Georgia, formerly of the Macedonia Community in Oglethorpe County, died Friday, May 6, 2022, at Anmed Health Medical Center in Anderson, South Carolina. Gordon was born March 24, 1949, in Greensboro, GA to the late Mae Sue Dover Moore and Elmer Gordon Moore, Sr. He graduated from Greene County High School and received an associate degree from North Georgia Technical College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On March 14, 1998, he married the former Deborah Anne Smith. Gordon owned and operated Gordon’s Marine in Hartwell, GA, where he sold and serviced boats on Lake Hartwell. He adored his grandchildren, reading and working outdoors. He also enjoyed traveling and spending as much time as he could with his wife. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the Hartwell Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to his wife, Deborah Anne Moore of Hartwell, Georgia; he is survived by his five sons, Brian, Lee, Baker, Michael (Lauren) and Daniel; by three sisters, Joyce Beale and husband Sam of Tucker, Georgia and his twin Polly Hatfield and husband Robert of Birmingham, Alabama, Charlotte Compton of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Samantha, Isabella, Kortnie, McKenna, Olivia, Saige, Easton and Emerson; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beautiful four month old granddaughter Skyler Breann Moore, his brothers Warren Aubrey Moore and Hugh Dover Moore, and his very loved adopted father Melvin Williams.

Funeral Services will be held the 14th of May, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, 2721 Macedonia Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. David Burt officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are four of his five sons, Lee, Baker, Michael, Daniel, Billy Christian, and Sam Beale.
