It is with both sorrow and joy that we announce the passing of George William "Pie" Hunt, who left this world on April 12, 2026, at the age of 93, at the John and Callie Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC. Born on May 19, 1932, in Elberton, Georgia, George dedicated his life to the art of transportation as a truck driver, traversing the highways of New York while keeping his spirit of adventure alive.At an early age he joined Flat Rock C.M.E. Church, later in his life he attended the Outpour Church in Toccoa, GA. He had a great love for God

George was a loving father to his three daughters, Janis Verdell (Billy), Lesia Tate, and Maria Hunt. He took immense pride in his family and cherished the simple moments spent together, whether during family gatherings or his spontaneous trips to the store for his favorite snacks-a Baby Ruth, Bananas and a Pepsi. A lover of life, George also found joy in tinkering with old cars and relished every bite of a hamburger from Dairy Queen. Later in life her became much more fond of Coke, Coffee, and Crackers.

George was preceded in death by his wife Geneva Rucker Hunt, Father Lou Hunt, Mother Addie (Adams) Hunt, siblings L.C. Hunt, Lue Hunt, Jr., Lillie Blackwell, Kathleen Roebuck, Harrison Hunt, Mary Hunt, as well as his children Floyd Hunt, Lou Hunt, George Hunt, Dorothy Hunt.

A beloved brother, he is survived by his sister, Dr. Georgia Griffin, of Philadelphia, PA who

looked up to him for his zest for life and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. Each of his family members carries with them special memories that will serve as a lasting tribute to a man who embraced life fully and loved his family deeply.

In addition to those above George leaves behind 11 Grandchildren; Rico, Wayne, Kiya, Terrand, Toddrick, Rynika, Keldrick, Shyheim, Darius, Makel, and Jaylon, as well as thirteen great- grandchildren. Sister's in law Myrtle Hunt and Macy Hunt. Special friends Herman Hughes, Jamie Almond as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A public viewing will be held at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors on April 19, 2026, from 1:30 until 3:00 PM, allowing friends and family to celebrate George's vibrant legacy. This will be followed by a heartfelt funeral service at the same location at 3:00 PM, where all will have the opportunity to share their stories and honor his memory. George will be laid to rest privately at a later date. George will lie in state on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

As we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of George William Hunt, we remember a man who lived life with gusto, embraced his passions, and loved his family fiercely. May his spirit continue to inspire all who knew him. George would want you to remember what he said " If you do right you will always come out right".
