George William Ertzberger

Mr. George William Ertzberger, age 66 of Hartwell, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Hartwell Health and Rehab.

He was born in Anderson, S.C., to the late Jake Ertzberger and Sara Higginbotham Ertzberger. George retired from the State of Georgia DOT and Whitworth Detention Center with 34 years of service. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and was an avid UGA Bulldogs fan along with the NY Yankees and Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by; his wife, Jan Elrod Ertzberger of the home, daughter, Georgia (Josh) Harris of Hartwell, Ga., and son, Jim (Lindsey) Ertzberger of Madison, FL. Grandchildren, William Harley Harris, John Blake Harris and Jason MIchael Harris, and his furbaby, Tank the English Bulldog. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws whom he loved, Julian and Opal Elrod, and grandchildren, Hannah Grace and Joshua Luke.

Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

Due to the health concerns and Covid-19 their will be no formal visitation. The family will be at the home, 288 Chandler Street in Hartwell.

The family has entrusted Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Cremations, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell to arrange his services.
