Mrs. Fay Maxwell Brown, age 79, of Bowman, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, December 15, 2025, at Brown Health and Rehab. Born on March 22, 1946, in Elberton, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joe S. and Evelyn Maxwell.

Fay spent many years working at Kendall, where she retired as a Slitter Operator. She was a faithful member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church and found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. Fay dearly loved spending time with her family and friends, sharing laughter and memories that will be cherished forever. She enjoyed yard sales, floral arranging, crocheting, and could often be found happily lost in the pages of her favorite romance novels.

In addition to her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Edward Brown, who passed away just weeks before her, as well as her brothers, Rev. Bobby Joe Maxwell, Sr. and Johnny Maxwell.

Fay leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly: her sons, Michael Edward Brown of Athens, Georgia, and James Samuel Brown of Bowman, Georgia; her daughter, Teresa Lynn Rideway of Bowman, Georgia; her grandchildren, Robert Stockton, Brandon Stockton, Kayla Ann Wood, Cody Brown, and Lindsey McCall; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Katie Rutledge Maxwell.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors with Reverend Leon Pierce officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowman, Georgia. The family will be at the home of Katie Maxwell, 171 Idlewood Acres in Hartwell.
