Obituary for Emma Christian

Mrs. Emma Chatham Christian, 81, of Anderson, SC, a native of Hartwell, GA, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2108 at Ellenburg Nursing Home in Anderson.

Born in Hartwell, GA on March 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Lucille Bailey Chatham. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Carris “Shorty” Christian; three brothers, Stewart Chatham, Jimmy Chatham, and Bill Chatham; and three sisters: Cuemi Hart, Eula Mae Adams, and Mary Etta Chatham.

She is survived by her children: Michael Christian and Lisa Gleason and her husband Randy; siblings: Marian Sanders, George Chatham and his wife Marcia, Diane Wilson and her husband Jimmy, and Cathy Alewine and her husband Wayne, all of Hartwell; grandchildren: Chad Christian, Mandy Moore, Heather Martin, and Justin Moore; and great-grandchildren: Gracyn Ross, Clay Martin, and Analeigh Martin.

The funeral service celebrating Emma’s life will be held at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, in the South Chapel of Sosebee Mortuary, 3219 S. Main Street, Anderson, SC 29624. Pastor Dale Duckett will officiate and burial will follow at MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive, Anderson, SC 29621.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the mortuary from 12:00-2:00p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service.
