Obituary for Emelyn Medlin

Emelyn Taylor Cheek Medlin went to be with the Lord on December 1.

Born in Elbert County on July 15, 1930, Emelyn lived most of her life in Nashville, Tennessee, and moved back to the Elbert/Hart County area five years ago, where she resided at the Hart Care Center.
Emelyn was a loving wife and mother of two daughters: Lynn Cheek Rau of Nashville and Karen Cheek Jones of Scottsdale, AZ.

She was married to her soulmate, Zack Cheek, also of Elberton, for forty years, where they resided in Nashville. Zack was a realtor and developer, and Emelyn assisted him in his business.
She was a gracious hostess and took pleasure in opening up her home to others.
Emelyn's hobbies included gardening, decorating, bridge, the arts, music, and reading.
She loved to travel and learn about new places, appreciating geographical and cultural differences.
In addition to Zack, she is preceded in death by her beloved grandson, John Taylor Rau, and her second husband, Thomas Medlin.

In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her five precious grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her loving and loyal sister-in-law, Winton Latham Taylor, and her nieces, Wynette Taylor Neal, and Derelyn Taylor Smith (Larry), as well as their children.

She will be buried at the same church where she dedicated her life to Christ at age eleven.
The graveside service will be held at Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3:30 p.m., with visitation immediately following. Donations may be made to Beulah Women's Ministry, c/o Sandra Hulette, 3018 Moore Road, Elberton, GA 30635.

The desire of Emelyn's heart was to travel to the Holy Land. Today, the family is rejoicing that, although this desire was not realized on earth, she is now eternally experiencing Heaven, the ultimate Holy Land.
