Dr. Martin John Simmons, 92, of Hartwell, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Hartwell Health and Rehabilitation.

Born on October 28, 1933, in Cordele, Georgia, he was the son of the late M.J. and Agnes Simmons. Dr. Simmons proudly served his country as a Major in the United States Air Force Dental Corps. Following his military service, he graduated from the Emory University School of Dentistry and went on to enjoy a distinguished career in private dental practice.

Dr. Simmons is survived by his daughters, Donna S. Allen (Andy) and Marion Brown (Bud); his sons, Bill Simmons (Crystal) and John Simmons (Rhonda); eight grandchildren: Katie, Morgan, Megan, Hannah, Haley, Zoe, Day, and Caleb; and six great-grandchildren: Harper, Gentry, Ridge, Taylor, Kira, and Trinity.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends during a time of refreshments and fellowship immediately following the service.

In accordance with Dr. Simmons' wishes, he will be cremated.
