Mrs. Dottie Ann Shipes Shelton, 68, of Fort Valley, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026 in Bowers Cemetery.

Mrs. Shelton was a native of Ft. Polk, Louisiana and a member of the Baptist faith. She was a document clerk with the Allen Insurance Group in Ft. Valley, Georgia. She loved flowers, feeding birds and animals. She also loved riding in the country and grilling outside. She was preceded in death by her father, Franklin Calhoun Shipes and father-in-law James Hubert Shelton, Sr.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, James H. Shelton, Jr.; mother, Dot Jones; daughters, Michelle Whitworth of Lavonia, Georgia, Jo Ann (Jason) Greenway of Mt. Airy, Georgia; brothers, Chuck Shipes, Ray Shipes, Randy Woodard, David Woodard; grandchildren, Jake, Drew, Will and Brody Whitworth; Eli, Isaac and Gabe Greenway and great-grandchildren, Sammy, Ruth and Forrest Whitworth.
