It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Louise Settles, who departed this life on February 5, 2026. Born on February 4, 1948, in Hartwell, Georgia, Dorothy was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of many. Dorothy dedicated her life to caring for others as a special needs caretaker with Avita Community Partners, where her gentle spirit and unwavering commitment made a significant impact on those she served.
Dorothy's passion for helping others extended far beyond her professional life. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1972 and was actively involved in her ministry, where she connected with people from all walks of life. Dorothy marveled at God's creations and had a deep love for nature. She enjoyed cooking for her family and others, taking daily walks, and attending various gatherings with her spiritual friends and her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by: her husband Jeffrey Settles. Parents Sidney and Lillie Clark. Daughter Jennifer Rucker, brother Charles Clark, and daughter in law Mary Lou Clark.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Robyn Polite; her son, Roderick Clark; her brother, Lester (Annette) Clark; her brother, Nathaniel Clark; her sister-in-law, Anne Clark. Nine grandchildren, Eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to her family, she leaves behind a cherished lifelong friend, Mary Sturghill.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and faith that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
In honor of her love of all people a Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses -Hartwell. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Coile and Hall Funeral Directors.
In honoring her memory, we invite all who knew Dorothy to join us in remembering a life well-lived, one filled with love, laughter, and service to others.
