Mr. Charles Woodford Richardson, 90, of Athens Highway, Elberton, widower of Annie Ruth Harris Richardson, died on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Pruitt Health at Spring Valley. 

 

Mr. Richardson was born in Hartwell on July 31, 1931, son of the late Chester Woodford "Chess" Richardson and Mamie Lee Herring Richardson. He was a retired stone polisher having worked in the granite industry. Charles was a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church and attended Dewy Rose Baptist Church. 

 

Survivors include his siblings: Frances Jean Brogdon, Selma Martha Isom, Jimmie Ruth Norris, and Linda Partain and her husband Jimmy, all of Hartwell; daughter-in-law, Lisa Butler Richardson of Elberton; step-grandchild, Stephanie Langol, her husband John, and their children Jack and Sam, all of Pittsburg, PA; siblings-in-law: Estelle and Troy Colquitt, Pete and Merileen Harris, and Carol Harris, all of Elberton; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Charles Stephen "Steve" Richardson; and parents-in-law: William Ogburn Harris and Mary Lou Sorrow Harris. 

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 15, at 2 o'clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. 

 

The family is at the residence of Lisa Richardson, 1063 Kathwood Drive Extension, Elberton, and will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. 

 

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
