Charles “David” East, age 69, of Hartwell, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Brookdale of Hartwell.

Born on March 19, 1956, in Gadsden, Alabama, David was the beloved son of the late Albert and Mildred (Allen) East. From an early age, David had a deep love for speed, adventure, and the outdoors-passions that stayed with him throughout his life.

David was happiest anywhere there was a fast engine to fire up or open water to explore. He proudly embraced the thrill of horseback riding and flying as an amateur pilot. When not chasing speed, David found peace and purpose outdoors, whether bass fishing at daybreak or bow hunting in the quiet of the woods. These were not just hobbies to him-they were reflections of his adventurous spirit and love for life.

Above all else, David cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen (Rossler) East, with whom he shared a life full of love and memories. He leaves behind his son, Kevin Morrison (Jessica), and daughter, Hannah Lanier (Austin), who were the pride of his life. David was a proud grandfather to Sutton, Beckett, Murphy, and Kade Morrison, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Janice and Janet East, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever remember his bold spirit, generous heart, and unmistakable love for living life full throttle.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Dewey East.

Charles “David” East will be remembered as a man who lived with passion, loved deeply, and never missed an opportunity to do what he loved most. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the engines revved, the waters fished, and the hearts of all who knew him.

In accordance with David’s wishes a cremation will take place and no formal services will be held.
