Beverly enjoyed her retirement by quilting, sewing, fishing, gardening, cooking, canning, and baking. She was a Master Gardener and was working on her National Flower Show Judgeship. She was Past President of Edenwood Garden Club and of the Garden Club Council of Greater Columbia. She won multiple awards for her flower designs and was a state winner in photography. She was a member of Broadacres Baptist Church. In her earlier years, she enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the piano and organ at Bio Baptist Church and Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Beverly had a brilliant mind both academically and creatively and she was passionate about helping others, teaching, and learning even in her final days.

Beverly married John Clifton Tippens II in 1969. They were married for 32 years before John passed away in 2001. Beverly is survived by three children; Dawn (Chris) Jordan of Cayce, SC; Andi Tippens of Gainesville, GA; and Cliff (Abby) Tippens of Blairsville, GA; six grandchildren Zachary, Elijah, Katie, John (IV), Carter, and Samuel; her brother Al (Connie) Cooper of Vidette, GA. In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by her brother Joe and sister Cathy.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 14, at 11 am at Broadacres Baptist Church in Cayce, SC. The Rev. Sam Gray will preside over the ceremony. The Nightingale Tribute will be performed by the Nurses Honor Guard of South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, Beverly requested that donations be made in her honor to the Garden Club Council of Greater Columbia Building Fund to rebuild their clubhouse that burned in 2019.
