Obituary for Betty Key (May)

Mrs. Betty May Key, age 87 of 110 Fairview Ave., Hartwell, GA, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born August 5, 1928 in Warthen, GA. Mrs. Key was the daughter of the late William Edison May and Annie Lou Parker May and the widow of the late Rev. Alfred L. Key. She was a retired sales person and buyer having worked 20 years with the Belk Department Stores. She also worked for Davidsons and Whites Department Stores throughout her professional career prior to her retirement from Belk. Mrs. Key was of the Methodist faith and a member of the UMW having served with her husband in the North Georgia Conference Ministry for over 50 years.
Mrs. Key is survived by her daughter, Nancy Key Raines and her husband Denny; son, David Key and his wife Rosemary; brother, Hugh May; grandchildren, Stefanie Sims and Kasha Newberry; great grandchild, Loden Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Tom, Edwin, Frank, Willard, James, Leonard, Warren, Wilbur; and sisters, Sarah, Mary, Jeannie, Ruth, and Priscilla.
Funeral services will he held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 2:30 pm from the chapel of the Coile Hall Spagnoli Funeral Home. The Rev. Doug Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
The graveside service and burial will be on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 12:30 pm in Sandersville, GA at the Sisters Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W. Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680 and to Hart County Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 45, Hartwell, GA 30643, or to the charity of one’s choice.
