Mrs. Mary Angela “Angie” Harris Scarborough, 53, of Elberton, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital following a brief battle with cancer.

Angie was born in Hartwell on September 26, 1968, daughter of Billy Frank Harris and Mary Frances Teasley Harris. She was a 1986 graduate of Elbert County Comprehensive High School and followed her passion of nursing by obtaining her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from Athens Technical College. Angie devoted her life to caring for others, and was currently employed at ACP Home Health. She was a member of Elberton Christian Church, and loved going to the beach.

Survivors, in addition to her mother of Elberton, include her husband of 37 years, Sandy Duane Scarborough of Elberton; sons: Jeremy Frank Scarborough and Lindsay Heath Scarborough, both of Elberton; sister, Traci Harris Moon and her husband Lynn of Elberton; grandchildren: Piper Hodge, Emree McCannon, Malec Scarborough, Grayson Scarborough, and Zoe Gray; two special nieces: Addyson Scarborough and Aubree Harris; and special uncle, Roger and Andi Harris of Hartwell.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by an infant son, Billy Kevin Scarborough; and her grandmothers, Dorothy King and Frances Teasley.

Funeral services celebrating Angie’ life will be held on Sunday, July 24, at 3 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Cox officiating. Interment will be in Fortsonia Community Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00-2:30p.m. prior to the service.

Angie had a special place in her heart for children, and the family request those wishing to honor her memory do so by donating to Give Kids The World Village, a nonprofit organization that provides critically ill children week-long wish vacations at no cost. www.gktw.org and 210 S.
