Obituary

Stuart Wiggins, 58, of Royston passed this life on May 6, 2020.

Stuart grew up in Southwest Georgia where he found a passion for the outdoors, primarily dogs, horses and hunting. He spent many days during his formative years hunting with his mother and later while living on Ichauway Plantation. On Ichauway, he developed an intense interest in training sporting dogs. Stuart’s love of dogs turned into an art form. When he wasn’t training dogs or working at the kennels, you could find him “wheeling and dealing” on various farm equipment and outdoor products. He loved buying and selling items for fun and profit. Stuart was a natural born story teller and facts never needed to get in the way of a good tale. An example was Beau Man, a beloved yellow lab. The dog had a large scar on his side, having been hit by a vehicle. Stuart loved to say “Beau” was bitten by an alligator on some heroic water retrieve. In his later years, he guided quail hunts and hosted dove shoots, always entertaining his guests with his exuberant and warm personality. His love for animals and the outdoors also spilled into his home and family, whom he loved deeply.

Stuart leaves behind his wife, Susan Wiggins, of Royston; his daughter, Whitney and son-in-law, Shawn Radford (Larsyn and Landry) of North Augusta, SC; son, Landon and daughter-in-law, Trista Wiggins (Emmet, Ethan and Edge) of Leesburg, GA; stepdaughter Marydon and stepson-in-law, Waylon Owings (Salter) of Laurens, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Kathy Wiggins (Motie, Laura Slade and Kyle) of Comer, GA; brother, John Wiggins (Adrian) of Jefferson, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Jimbo and Suzanne Wiggins (Joni and Chad) of Newnan, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Slade and Jeremy Nicolay of Columbus, GA; and sister, Laura Wiggins (Douglas, Motie and Emma) of Cuthbert, GA, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Waypoint Ministry, 129 Center Point Dr., Dahlonega, GA 30533.

Due to the current restrictions placed as a result of Coronavirus, the immediate family will have a private graveside service at Nancy Hart Memorial Park, and at a later date there will be a celebration of life for all friends and family.

Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell will be serving the family.

A memory - a thousand of them. Me and Stuart and Jimbo playing baseball with Elise outside the boys’ bathroom, in the side yard. Me spending the night at Stuart’s, sleeping with Miss Joan (Daddy Matthew wasn’t there). We were 11. Stuart and Jimbo jumping off the send story landing into the sofa in the living room. Miss Joan had a stroke. So did I, privately, tomboy though I was. Jimbo and John will remember all of this. Stuart giving me a candle made like a perfect ice cream sundae, bought by Miss Joan for me for Valentine’s Day. His shy smile, looking out from under his lashes. His ID bracelet. We would drop in on each other every now and then over all these years. I’d check to see how he was, inside. He sent me a picture of Whitney when she was one. So glad he was a big part of my childhood, my life. Love you, Stuart. Forever. Susan, Landon, Whitney, Marydon, Mark, John, Jimbo - I love you guys, too. Praying for you, grieving with you. So sorry. But. I know Who he’s with and where he is. He lost his battle, but won the Prize, anyway. Rest easy, my friend.

Stuart was absolutely the most outgoing and funny man I have ever known. They say "Only the good die young" and that is particularly true of Stuart. He touched the hearts of many. There was never a dull minute when Stuart was around. You will be missed brother. My heart is with you in heaven and we will meet again.
